The Bell tradition of developing leading-edge, next-generation helmets continues with the RS7 Carbon Fiber Helmet. Based on the advanced 8860 HP7 model, developed through close collaboration with leading F1 drivers and teams, the Snell SA2015 and FIA8859-2015 certified RS7 Carbon is designed to be as aerodynamically sleek, lightweight and efficient as possible for the intense demands of high level forms of racing that compete at higher speeds.
The RS7 Carbon features an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber shell
using Bell’s high-pressure proprietary molding system as well advanced styling and a redesigned interior that provides maximum comfort. The shell and shield design have been optimized by moving the shield pivot pointer to a lower position to improve acoustic comfort, aerodynamic behavior and energy absorbing capacities. The RS7 liner system is all new featuring a multi-piece, multi-density high-impact custom bead absorbing liner. The helmet’s redesigned ergonomic interior incorporates multiple density comfort foams and padding to ensure the best possible fit to accommodate a variety of head shapes.
Ventilation has been improved with the introduction of 14 air intake and extraction channels strategically placed around the shell, maximizing airflow around the head and the face. These inlets feature included intake covers that catch and direct air directly into the helmet at speed.
The RS7 Carbon has an optical grade injected Double Screen Anti Fog (DSAF) shield
, with variable thickness exceeding 5mm in the field of vision, setting a new standard for clarity and fog control. The shield seal has also been improved with the introduction of a hollow synthetic rubber gasket ensuring that air and water especially in wet conditions can’t penetrate into the helmet through the eyeport. The helmet’s chin guard face piece is removable and the integrated channels offer multiple options to install integrated drinking tube systems and radio microphone systems.The RS7 Carbon has been designed to work well in both open cockpit and closed cockpit use, however, Bell has added optional kits to further set the RS7 apart from the competition in each environment.
For open cockpit use, the RS7 has been designed to work with Bell’s high speed aero kit. This additional optional aerodynamic kit is available to enhance helmet performance and provide greater stability at higher speeds. The aerodynamic kit includes a chin bar gurney which adds down force to the front of the helmet to prevent lift and a rear spoiler that improves overall helmet stability. Both items come in an unpainted clear finish and attach with included double sided adhesive that holds aggressively to the shell yet can be removed easily without damaging the helmet's finish. For closed cockpit use, the RS7 can be adapted to a top forced air helmet.
The Top Forced Air kit is designed to utilize the 10 top and forehead ventilation channels
to direct airflow around the top of the helmet for comfort and onto the shield to reduce fogging. The kit attaches using aggressive double sided adhesive and will be in a matching carbon fiber finish. Bell's new forced air helmets feature the new V.10 Quick Lock forced air nozzle that locks the forced air connector in place yet allows for easy release when its time to exit the vehicle. The smaller nozzle design helps accelerate airflow into the helmet. The Top Forced Air Kit includes both a Straight Adapter and a 90-Degree Adapter compatible with traditional 1.5 inch diameter forced air hoses.
The RS7 Carbon is certified to the Snell SA2015 and FIA8859-2015 standards
and is available in white and regular matte black finish in sizes 7 1/8 (57) to 7 3/4 (62). The helmet takes the SE07 3MM shield which features the SV SE07 pivot system with thumb tab on the driver’s left side to allow for easy shield operation. It comes equipped with double screen anti fog visor insert and helmet bag.
